Adult formation

St. Martin's offers many diverse opportunities for adults to explore their faith and to learn about our tradition.

  • Adult Bible Study/Forum meets on Sunday at 10:15am in the parish library, with different series led by clergy and occasional guest speakers. Check the bulletin for details.

  • The Daughters of Eve gather on the second Monday evening of each month in the parish library, 7:30 - 9:00 pm, for a general program, small-group discussions, and a surprise!

  • The Holy Folders Bible Study is available to all adults after the weekly Thursday morning bulletin folding. Ernie leads this at 11:00am.

  • Parishioners interested in healing ministry use educational materials from the The Order of St. Luke and meet twice per month. Contact Mark+ for more information.

  • Education for Ministry is a four-year course that encompasses a study of Scripture, history, theology, and Anglicanism. For information about this course of study, contact Ernie.

  • Young Adult Coffee Chat is a weekly gathering of our young adults to go out for coffee and chat about things ranging from the mundane to the profound. Sundays after the 11:00am service we can be found by the cross garden in front of the church, from where we usually walk over to Starbucks together.

Pastoral care

We practice the ministry of all believers at St. Martin's. Teams led by parishioners provide meals during family emergencies, respite care, and transportation to church and appointments, and otherwise assist parishioners in need. In conjunction with these ongoing activities, we will train our first class of Stephen Ministers in Fall 2006. For more information, contact Mark+.

Activities include Canterbury Club lunches at the UC Davis coffeehouse, peer ministry, Bible studies, social nights, community service, attending church on Sunday with other students, and events in collaboration with Lutheran Episcopal Campus Ministry at The Belfry, Campus ministry is led by student interns Andy and Chana, with support from Mark+ and Ernie.
